Recently started to hear a clunk at low speeds and determiend it to be a broken link between the front stabilizer bar and A arm. The top side connecting to the A arm appears to have 'popped' off.
My question is, how is the link connected to to the A arm? There is a nut on the bottem side, but the top appears to have a cap on it or some other mechanism.
Any suggestions on replacing this? It looks to be a pretty easy job.
Do both sides need to be done, or is replacing just the broken one acceptable.
I actually just had my driver side replaced about a little over a month ago. I only replaced the one, didn't do both. My buddy had it done in about 5 minutes or so. He did it for me since he works in the frame shop at the same dealership I work at and I'm in parts, so easier for him to do it than me. =)
go to Auto Zone and buy a "kit" for $20. you get two threaded studs base washers, 4 rubber pads and the 4 nut washers.. what you are looking at is a washer slid down onto the stud, it bottoms out about 3 inches down. you put a rubber pad on the washer, then stick the stud thru the frame, then rubber pad and washer- nut on top, then tighten to crunch the rubbers about 20%. same thing on the other end. go ahead and do both.
Thanks. Bought the parts at the local dealer (easier to get to than anyone else) and had it done in 10 minutes or so, 20 if you count the test drive and retighten things up.
