Ford : F-350 My buddy sent me this, he wants to go look at it and asked my opinion. Right off, theft recovery and title, no warranty, Edge, I am leary.
Wow, looks sick. Your buddy will probably get it stolen again looking like that. With no warranty and an edge already on it, I would pass without even looking at it. Don't let the looks fool you into buying it. It's a whole lot of money, and your buddy will be paying through the nose to keep it up and running with no warranty. If it was me, I'd pass.
Thats what I'm thinking. Is the 100k engine warranty void in a stolen vehicle recovery like this? I wouldn't think so, but thats why I'm asking. TIA- Tim
I would look at getting a wrecked truck before a theft recovery. If your just looking for a spare drive train. If he is looking for a truck, just keep shopping used, he'll find a good deal.
Ryan, thats what I told him, however I don't think he hears what I'm telling him. He really likes the truck, and I can't blame him- it's a sweet looking rig. And he says the only thing they needed to fix after getting it back was the drivers door handle. If thats true, why didn't the original owner want the truck back? Curious, I think. And the Edge, well that just has me concerned. We'll see, I don't know what he's going to do. Thanks for the replies- Tim
You can certainly save a lot of money by buying a salvage titled vehicle. My 99 BMW R1100RT has a salvage title. Your friend needs to find out the reputation of the outfit that brought it up to specs and who inspected it. States differ in what it takes to get this type title. I think he should be a good wrench and willing to spend some of that savings on some surprises he's likely to encounter.
just a thought but even w/o a salvage title you could have warrenty problems with that truck because of the Edge Programer and it would be hard to hide those massive stacks.
Branded titles are book valued assuming POOR condition, so keep that in mind. There is an all stock stolen recovery '07 6.0L for sale locally here for $24k, keep that in mind for comparison. Given the modes, I think upper $20k range is fair, but no higher.
