Ignition Resistance Wire
During a trailer harness wire install we found that the resistance wire (from the ignition switch to the firewall, pink) had completely melted through the wire harness and lost a good portion of it's insulation (previous owner spliced into the wire). A search from the auto electric shop (good shop, but no info) to Napa left us with a Napa replacement wire, Napa # ICR22. It is my understanding I cannot cut, splice solder, etc.. this wire. The ends provided do not match the ignition switch connector nor the connector at the firewall.
Is it possible to cut the old wire out, leaving enough wire to splice in connectors at the switch and firewall that will accept this wire or should we scrap this and head to the wrecking yard for a harness?
Thanks a million!
