Power Window

With no warning my drivers side power window stopped working last week. The passenger side has always been a little sluggish and still is but the drivers side has always worked fine. (I use it every day to show the guards at work my badge to get on plant.) One morning it just didn’t work anymore; it doesn’t even try to go down.
The morning before it stopped working there was a little ice on the truck and when I tried to lower the window it tried to go down but couldn't brake the ice that had built up at the bottom of the window. I did the same thing that I have always done and gave the window a quick jab with the edge of my fist. after that it worked as usual, down then up with no problem. The next day it was as if there was no power going to the motor.
I’ve checked the switch and it is okay where should I look next?

You say the switch is OK meaning when you have power going in and when you flip it you have power going out correct?
If so then I would pull the door panel and check the connection at the motor.
If there is power at the motor and it doesn't work try smacking it with a hammer then if nothing happens in either dirrection then you probably need a motor.

Well if your going to smack the motor that means you have or
are going to take the door panel off.
Pull the connector off the motor and make sure you
have power there. If you don't irs in the wiring and not the motor.
If you do then it is most likely the motor but try one more thing,
do you have a cordless drill. Use the battery as a power source.
Jump the wires going to the motor and see if it works. If it does
you have a ground problem. 95 percent of wiring problems with
an auto is not a lack off power it is a lack of or bad ground.
Let me know what happens. If for some reason you decide
to take the regulator assembly out let me know first so it is
I may be able to help prevent you loosing a finger or two.

I'm all for not losing a finger (but I do like the idea of skidding into my grave sideways). I was planning on checking the wirring pefore I smaked anything. I haddn't thought of the idea of a drill battery. The cordless drill that I have is 24 volts do you think that will work?

Yeah, it should be its not like your going to be running it forever.
The signature kind of discribes me. I've had surgery of one sort or
another on almost every joint in my body along with a few parts
removed so I figure at this rate by the time I die there won't be much left in working condition to donate to anybody.
