v10 replacement?

morning everyone, i don't own a v10 but i will down the road. i've always liked the superdutys. my question is, do you see ford in the future replacing the v10 with the new 6.2 v8, like what chev did with their 8.1, going to the 6.2. hopefully, i'v got the engine sizes right.

I sure hope not...

In fact...I'd like to see Ford offer a super or turbo charged version of the V10...

If I remember right...it is actually easier to control emissions on 10 'smaller' cylinders than 8 'larger' ones...but I could be TOTALLY WET on that...as I only read it on the internet...and you know what...I paid $0 for that info! LOL

GM if I remember right hasn't offered the 6.2L in any of their 3/4 or 1 tons yet...it has been a specialty Denali 1/2 ton motor if I recall???

The V10 IS in a league of its own...

Look at a GM and the only REAL motor choice is the Duramax...

Look at a Dodge and the only REAL motor choice is the Cummins...

Ford on the other hand has the V10 OR the PSD...choice...REAL choice...

My understanding is GM is NOT offering the 8.1L in their 2500 or 3500 vehicles.

In order to get the 8.1L you need to buy a BOAT or MOTOR HOME...

At least that is my understanding when I try and option out a vehicle on the GM site...yeah I'm geeky that way!

i do the same on ford. the more i read on the v10 forum and the superduty one, the more i'm impressed. i can't even find a v10 equipped superduty around on the ford lots in the area, only the 5.4 and 6.4's. make mine a 250 cc 4x4 with 4.30's and i'm happy.

A 3V torqshift V10 with 4.30's is one MEAN @ss truck!!!...that's why you can't find em...

6.4's are a dime a dozen...and for ~$8K MORE for a 6.4Lthe aforementioned V10 ROCKS with that 6.4L in every step up a hill!!!...mpg advantage for the PSD is GONE....thanks to the same emission controls gassers have had since 1973!!!

NOW...in fairness...IF you were gonna tug a 15K# 5'r behind you...there is NO comparison...sorry...PSD wins that contest...but for most 12K# and under TT's / 5'rs that folks are tugging...the V10 is a very competent choice...

stop, your making me want it now. haha. my 150 is paid off in 2 years, so hopefully then, hummm, wifes expy is paid off in 3 months. maybe a little sweet talkin? naw, she'll never go for it. i don't really have any need for a diesel. the most i pull is my quad on the trailer, maybe 2000-2500 lbs. so i don't really need the v10, but you never know when you're gonna have to pull big weight. that's what i'll tell the wife. lol

There's a few things I've learned in life.

A girl can NOT be too pretty.

A car can NOT be too fast.

You can NOT have too much money. (although I'd like to find out! )

A truck can NOT have too much motor!!!

Life's short...join the V10 4.30 club and keep smiling like this...

(disclaimer...she'll only be mad for a little while!)...but look at my sig as to what I had to buy wifey...far left...

That little car...is ONE FUN CAR to play in!!!

After the kiddo's get a little older...I'm gonna have a supercharged drop top version of one!

At that point I'll likely have a V10 in a motor home and get rid of the Ex...but we'll see...

Do NOT omit bribery and begging in your quest for the V10! LOL

Rumor at the Ford dealership here is that yes... the V10 will be replaced by the 6.2l V-8 in 2010. I also remember reading that in Four Wheeler magzine, or something similar to that.

I too hope it's nothing more than a rumor. Guess we'll see.

On a happier note, if it is replaced, the 6.2 is supposed to have darn near identical power numbers as the current V-10. If that is true, it would be wise for Ford to dump the V-10.

Besides - the V10 is a modular. We already know that the "Boss" motors will be replacing the V-8 modulars soon. Only makes sense to discontinue the entire lineup due to manufacturing costs.

it will probably have a bit more power but will it have the torque? i hope it's a rumour as well. seems all the bigger displacement motors are slowly being phased out.
