1973 Ford F-500
I am new here and was wondering if anyone else on this forum owns the larger F series trucks (F500-F800) from the 1970's or is this just mainly for the lighter duty (F100-F350) owners. I am having some trouble finding a site with larger ford truck owners from the 1970's time frame. I guess most guys interested in the bigger Fords are into the 1950's trucks. Are there any other
1970's F-500 owners in this forum? Thanks

Awsome looking truck. I don't think there is any objection to a larger truck. Aslong as it is a truck and a blue oval product. The dual wheeled rear axle trucks always have attracted my attention. I have seen a few larger F series truck post on here before. Must admit, it is rare to see one so good. Many of your trucks parts are interchangeable with a normal pickup of the same era.
Curious note, what type of engine r you running in it?

I just bought this truck a few months ago.It spent its whole life at the airport in Cleveland, OH. It has under 30,000 miles on it and is in nice shape for being
35 years old. It only has a 300 c.i. 6 engine and a 4 speed trans. Plenty of low end power but about a 50 mph top speed. Good enough for around town.
1973 was kind of a nightmare year for these bigger trucks as the cab has a mixture of both the older style (1972) and new (1973) pickup parts. It has 73 style doors and still uses the 72 style door handles.Inside the dash is still the old style with the older heater controls and ignition switch on the dash. Still uses the old style gas tank behind the seat (good place for it,no rust).
FL299 good to see at least one other big f series owner is on here. Yes they
are rugged, well built, old trucks. GOTTA LOVE EM

my bronco is half medium duty. i hope that my truck inspires people to build one of these often forgotten jobsite bound vehicles. here is mine:

the door handles are only found on 73-79 f500+ and are not the same as the older trucks.
the doors are the same as the smaller trucks; however, there are different holes cut into the skin for the outer handle and mirrors.
the 73-79 f100-350 dash will not bolt into older trucks, you will have to cut at the windshield pinchweld and take the other half of the dash along with the part that unbolts.
