Well I spent about 4 hours on the install. The downpipe was a pain to install! I now have 3 places that touch the truck up on the downpipe no matter what I tried to do with it. Did any body else have the same problems? From the downpipe back was a piece of cake. The sound is pretty good and also gained a couple pounds of boost from 16 to 18 with the red line on the wastegate hooked up.
Did you trim the exhaust shield and mounting bolts properly? If so, you may need to realign the system. It is tight, but it can be done so no rubbing occurs.
I had to adjust mine with a hammer a little bit where the downpipe rubbed in numerous places, but I may look to get a different downpipe in the future.
The only thing I can think that was different on my truck than others is that mine is a early 99. Others said they had no problems, but I put some good dents in that pipe.
under the floor where the passanger feet goes there is a heat sheald..you will see 2 long bolts sticking down that hold that shield in place.you need to cut them bolts off just as close to the nut/shield as you can...this will help you get the exhaust off of the cross member and away from the block...i had the early 99 turbo when i first installled the exhaust..every thing went in nice..no rubbing at all..but its very tight...mine is also a 4" down pipe into a 5"...
