NOTE: All remote transmitters and the wireless keyless entry keypad (F-Super Duty vehicles built before 12/03) must be programmed at the same time.

NOTE: Programming (or reprogramming) the remote transmitters or the wireless keyless entry keypad can be accomplished using a diagnostic tool or by carrying out the following steps:
  1. The vehicle must be electronically unlocked before entering program mode using the remote transmitter, keyless entry keypad (if equipped), wireless keyless entry keypad (if equipped) or door lock control switch while the driver door is open.
  1. Turn the key from OFF to RUN 8 times within 10 seconds, with the eighth turn ending in RUN. If the module has successfully entered program mode, it will lock and then unlock all doors.
  1. Within 20 seconds, press any button on a remote transmitter, or enter command on the wireless keyless entry keypad and the doors will lock and then unlock to confirm that each remote transmitter or wireless keyless entry keypad has been programmed. Repeat this step for each remote transmitter or wireless keyless entry keypad.
  1. If the door locks do not respond for any remote transmitter or wireless keyless entry keypad, wait several seconds and press the button again or enter another command on the wireless keyless entry keypad. If the door locks still fail to respond, refer to Inspection and Verification in this section. (Make sure that no more than a combination of 4 remote transmitters and wireless keyless entry keypads are attempted to be programmed.)
  1. Exiting the programming mode is accomplished if one of the following occurs:
    • The key transitions to the OFF position.
    • 20 seconds have passed since entering programming mode or since the last remote transmitter or wireless keyless entry keypad was programmed.
    • The maximum number of remote transmitters and wireless keyless entry keypads have been programmed.

Does anyone know if a remote from a 97 f150 will work on a 2000 f250?

Programming Personal Codes

A unique personal 5-digit code can be programmed by following these steps:
  1. Enter the factory set 5-digit code (the keyless entry keypad will illuminate when pressed).
  1. Press 1/2 within 5 seconds of Step 1.
  1. Enter the unique 5-digit code.
The personal code does not substitute for the permanent factory set code. Either code can be used to access the vehicle. In addition, if a second personal code is programmed, it will simply overwrite the previous personal code.

blong2107, This code is provided to the customer through a wallet card in the Owner Literature package. In addition, this code is available through a diagnostic tool and is also printed on the vehicle security module label. When entering codes each digit must be entered within 5 seconds of the previous button press.

It will be on your security module, buried under a lot of wires under the dashboard. Removing the radio or the "panties" hook will usually allow you access to the code stocker.

keyless remote programming question ??

..........new to this forum, first post.

Seems that most of the keyless remotes are being taken at the car auctions before the cars are sold. Seems like a small industry of "selling remotes" and owner manuals has sprung up on ebay.

My 2005 F250 FX4 has two keys but no remotes. I've been reading all the posts but have a couple of questions.

Can I assume that an FX4 comes with remotes? Do I have to try and find if the option is installed?

I have no codes, (the card is missing).......can I still program two new remotes from Ford using the directions in the owners manual?

Unlike certain other cars, can old remotes be "reflashed"?

Porsche for example requires an original Porsche factory key (new, no previous programming) the car, and the diagnostic tool, to program a key.

thanks for any help.......James

Welcome to the site James.

FX4 is just an optional package, it doesn't tell us if you have keyless entry or not. If you have a Lariat, or if your truck has the keypad on the outside door then you do have keyless entry. If you have keyless entry all you need to do is follow the steps in post 4, no special tools or anything are needed.

Budman

It should I programed a remote from a 2003 focus svt, and a 92 ford probe remote on my 07 F350. Give it a try, worst thing that happens, is it wont' do it. Just be sure to un program it from the 97 f150, because if the 2 vehicles are near each other you will unlock/lock both of them.

An 05 with keyless entry will have the keypad on the door. If you don't have the keypad, you dont' have keyless entry.
