HELP!!! keyless remote

Remote Question
I know this may be a little late, but once I've found out something doesn't work, I try as many simple things as I can. So, I just have to ask, did you make sure the new remote had a battery in it, and if so, is it good? Just trying to help. Let me know what you found out if you've already solved it. My daughter has an '02 Expedition that we got a new remote for. It wouldn't program either 'til we found out there wasn't a battery inside of the new remote.
