Fairlane Chat - Wrecks to Riches

Did any of you see the wrecks to riches (TLC show Barry's speed shop dude fixes up junkers to make cash, its like a Chip Foose thing but cheaper) episode. Anyhow I watched it a couple of weeks ago and they did a killer super muscle car of a 64 Fairlane. Real nice ride. I got to thinking of it cause Fom said he picked up a 67 Fairlane. I wasn't as familiar with that style so I had to go and look it up. I really like the 64's but that 67 is nothing to scoff at. Fom where did you get it. Do you have any pics.

You folks have any 64's sitting out on the prairies preferably the 2 door variety?
I actually dropped off a Sunbeam (Maxwell Smart car ... not a tiger version) to some guy 3-4 years ago (don;t ask me how I got the darn Sunbeam that's an even longer story....plus his dog bit me.....Jeez I meet the darnest people) ......ANyhow he had what I now believe to be a yellow 67 GT. I knew it looked cool but was slobbering over some trucks he had and my leg was bleeding so I didn't get to go over it in as much detail as I would have liked.....

I'm off to contemplate leaving my job to write a book ...if only it would pay the bills.

I bought the car locally after lusting after it for almost 15 years...
Sorry, no pictures worth posting till spring and after the warmer weather hits.
Unfortunately I haven`t seen any of the wrecks to riches show yet, sounds real interesting and I`ll watch for it.

I saw that episode when he did a clone of the "Thunderbolt" Fairlane.

I have seen his shows and what he pays for some of them cars. Man he paid over 6500 for a 68 Mustang that had no front clip or doors or interior or drivetrain and was all rusted out. Cost around $40,000 to fix up and he sells them at auctions for more. The guy has horeshoes. The thing that gets me is how much bondo those guy put on those cars. Yes they look straight and smart afterwards, but so much bondo. Its like 90% of the cars have a thin layer of fill covering them.
The same with Overhauling. I still like watching those shows, for the ideas and designs.
Hey Truckfarmingcanuck. If interested how does a 63 Fairlane wagon suit yah. My neighbor got a fairly decent body one to sell. No motor or tranny. PM for pics.

I watch the shows for the designs. The money they pump out is unrealistic to the majority of us. What I found cool about this one episode was the fact that they did something different than a mustang, camaro or slOPAR.
It reminded me how good the 64 Fairlane looked.
Look forward to the updates and Pics Fom on the 67.
Thx for the lead on the station wagon. Its not likely that I will trek out to pick it up. I was just wondering if 64's were all over the place out there cause you can't find very many 2 doors versions out in these parts. By any chance was the wagon a 2 door (did they make a 2 door wagon?)

The only 2 door Fairlane wagons made were the 1954/61 versions (known as Ranch Wagons). < < These were full sized Fords. There were 2 door Falcon wagons made 1960/63.

Ford station wagons: 2 door: Ranch Wagon / 4 door: Country Sedan / 4 door with "wood" trim: Country Squire.

They`ve dried up here too. I never really see any around except the odd rusty one.
