this setup works for me
I had dual batteries and was running a plow and after an hour it drained my batteries, so I had to come up with a better system. I scrapped the factory setup since I was upgrading to a 170 amp alternator from Bronco Graveyard and the 10 ga. wire was not up to the task. I ran all new 4 ga. wire and mounted a 200 amp isolator on the passenger-side fender and ran all my plow stuff off the auxilliary battery and got two new Motorcraft batteries. Runs great now no matter how long I plow with it. You could probably get by with a factory setup if you are only winching for a short time, but eventually your batteries will drain, just take a little longer. If you want to keep it looking stock, why not just upgrade your alternator, though you will have to go with a larger gauge wire?
