Exhaust Back Pressure Sensor
I was having the turbo lose boost after running 15 or so minutes at 70 - 80 mph. I had the P0299 code, EBP circuit code, MAP/ BARO code. (don't remember the numbers, I posted but there wasn't much of a response) Wow, this engine is weak with no boost! I could drive all day around town and boost was fine.
So, what I did was; the first time I got the EBP code, I replaced the sensor, BUT, it must not have been the correct one, or the replacement was faulty. The one I received had the flare fitting directly on the bottom of the sensor. My original had 1/8" NPT and it fit into a bracket that mounts directly on the thermostat housing. The flare for the tube was made into the mounting bracket.
Well, I installed it anyway since the flare fitting is what is on the EBP tube and jury rigged a mount. The turbo never did perform correctly with this set up.
So, I searched ebay, found a EBP sensor exactly like the original, reinstalled the original mounting bracket and new sensor, problem solved. The new sensor I bought from ebay had a new plug and wires with it, I didn't install it but kept it in case I get codes again.
I had also replaced the MAP sensor and hose, but with the incorrect EBP sensor I was still loosing boost.
