4x4 Not Working

I have a 2001 Ranger 4x4 V6 4.0 SOHV, the other weekend we replaced the transmission afterwards the transmission worked great but my 4 wheel drive will not engage, I get no lights on start-up, no dash 4x4 lights when I turn the ****, I hear no click that I used to hear. My neighbor is a mechanic and helped with the tranny, also went through a bunch of stuff with the 4 wheel drive to see what could have happened, since replacing the tranny requires removal of the transfer case we thought we jared the shift motor and maybe it froze. He tested the fuses with a test light and it light up, he tested the connections at the shift motor and when switching between 2, 4H and 4L he had different readings on the multimeter, I am not sure exactly whta they were though, he did not have the info on what it should be reading to say if it was correct or not, Alldata did not give him accurate info on this stuff for my truck. If anyone knows that info or anything else to test or any ideas on what could be the problem, we did not test the dash switch itself (requires pulling the stereo and he didn't have those tools at home) but figured since we were getting different readings at the switch motor it was good, maybe not I am not sure. Any ideas would be great.

Thanks,
Kris
