I have an 81 f150 with a 351m and a c6 tranny. I want an overdrive tranny. Can you bolt the bellhousing from the c6 to an overdrive tranny from a mustang or thunderbird? If not what are my best options?
I want a solid gold toilet but it's just not in the cards.
just kidding man.
The C6 has an integrated bellhousing so it's not removable. I think the 351M has the same bolt pattern as the 400/429/460. You could find an auto/OD tranny from behind a 460 and it should bolt up to your motor.
...you can put a nice non-electronic AOD behind it using the above kit (giving you a 0.67 OD gear). Also, I believe Art Carr has kits like these as well but you have to dig a little on there website.
Torque convertors are not unbalanced to balance the engine. The flexplates and flywheels ARE unbalanced to balance the engine. The only internally balanced engine I can think of that Ford made was some of the sixes, like the 300.
