Unhappy 302 help????

Hey guys, I have a 1977 F100 with a 302. I am getting a lot of crank case pressure and oil is blowing the dipstick out. I guess it is getting time to rebuild the motor. How do I know if it would be OK to use the block I have for a moderate performance build. This is the original motor and I am worried that the block may be to old. If so, where can I get a resonable price on a short block.

I already have a performance intake, headers, exhaust, HP carb, MSD coil, new plugs and wires, open air breather.

I don't know what to do next. Any help or suggestions would be great.

Thanks, Jeremy

pull the motor, take it apart, bring the block heads and crank to a machine shop and have them check it over.

Check the block casting numbers above the starter too. You could have the D8VE block, that one's a keeper, it's got 10 lbs more iron in it, and thick cylinder walls.
