Ok I see that alot of yall have dp tuners. I know they have more power in performace then my superchip (max 80hp) but wanted get feedback on which chip they haveand if they are happy with it. I am also thinking about moving to the dp due to the almost double HP from dp. I see weekendwarrior has the dp smoke. what is that exactly. is that why he spills so much diesel dust? Input is great. Also how will the increased hp be on my trans? I have 3.73 ls
I would deff go with the DP tuner. I kno i dont have a diesel but i am thinking about getting a pick up. And if i get one, itll be a diesel. I have researched alot on which tuner forthe 7.3. And i have found out everybody loooves the DP tuner. They like it because it is a multi position chip, meaning you can get many different tunes programed into your DP tuner. I am pretty sure that the most you can get is 16 tunes. Ive read that it is 250 for the chip and 40 per a tune. Also a important mod to do before the tuner are obviously gauges and a valve body. Go to BTS and tell brian that you are getting a chip from DP tuner made and he will make you a custom valve body for that tuner. If you get the valve body, ur trans will like u alot better They are about 225 dollars and are highly recomended. I hope this helps!
I am considering a DP tuner for my 7.3 X. I've been through Edge and now it looks like SCT isn't able to help me, and you're right, most on ALL these forums seem to like DP's tuning and quality. I just wish they could incorporate the good tunes into a professional display with all the available PID's for each vehicle.
It's my understanding too, that there's a 16 position chip and you decide what the 16 tunes are for $244.95 + $45 each tune. You may only need/want 1, 2, or 3 tunes and believe me, that's reasonable.
