Doing a rebuild on a 79 250, 400. About 150k on the engine. Local mechanic who I trust and who seems to know these engines says that I can reuse the original head bolts. I have heard from other sources that when servicing the heads you should always replace the bolts.
Also, I am replacing the cam and lifters. Same mech says I can re-use the push rods and rocker arms. Again, I have read elsewhere that when redoing the valve train you need to replace everything.
Thoughts?
Keep in mind I am a rookie. This is my first rebuild.
Yes, you can reuse the head blots. The rockers you should look over, they do wear out. The push rods should be ok. Just look everything over closely before you reuse it.
