Unhappy need help! (starter)

got a new starter sol. today, just got it put on, but I had to take the starter off to get the new sol. on.. bolted it all back up, wired it up, turned the key and I just get a high pitched whine/grinding sound.. what did I do wrong? i've changed a lot of starters, and this is a first for me.. any help?

I've got all three bolts in the starter, looks like it's tight.. but I couldn't tell if it mattered what way you bolted the sol. up.. but the posts on the sol. are in the same spot as the old one?

Maybe play in the bolts on the starter .. loosen starter and push starter up then re-tighten. Think there was a thread a month or so about same problem. Best guess.

When you have the starter out bench test it see if it working properly what kind of troubles were you having before you decided to change the sol.

took the sol. off, it's def. hooked up right.. I'll try the starter bolts next..
and before, the sol. would make a click, but wouldn't turn over the moter.. a few hammer taps later, and it would..

well I went out and played with the three bolts on the starter, moved the starter a bit, tighted it back up, and she fired right up.. no more did I get 'er started, and some guy in a suit walks up wanting his BMW pulled out of the field acrossed the road.. dunno if he was talkin' to the chick in the car, drunk or what.. but that sure ain't somthing you see in this small town every day.. the 'ol 250 walked right out there, mud and all, and pull that fancy pile of junk right out..
