Just to follow up up on my wifes Navigator that burned last week. The cruise control was determined to be the cause, but our insurance did pay off the vehicle. I was getting a little worried they might deny our claim. The morral of the story, Get your vehicles in for recalls. Thanks to all that responded
Im glad to hear the truck will be covered. Regardless of failure to attend to recalls, the buyer shouldnt have to deal with a manufacturer part that burns their vehicle.
It was a 2002 Navigator, 72,000 miles. All though nobody was injured, it was a major pain. First dealing with the insurance company, then the adjuster, the the fire inspector(he was here for 5 hours looking for the burned cruise module). Then shopping for new vehicle, we all know how much fun that is. Now the clean up, my drive is all but ruined where the Nav burned, melted plastic, metal, aluminum, oil, fluids, etc.. Thank for listening
Ford doesn't seem too concerned about this issue. I have a 94 Mark VIII with the same recall. It has been six months now, and they still don't have the parts to fix it. It is disconnected.
The reason you still don't have the part, is because they are on national backorder, at my dealer they have waiting list and everytime they get a batch in they call them the top ones on the list in and do it.

They can only produce some many parts at a time, or else we will probably have another issue. From my understanding Ford wasn't expecting this kinda of response to the recall, so they didn't make enough.
