Anyone ever heard of this package? It consisted of the 300 six/C-6 combo. There is a nice article on wikipedia. Supposedly these trucks are kinda rare and prized for the durability of the powertrain. I have an 85 with this combo and it is certainly durable. When I got it I never knew I was getting a rare truck but it is nice to know! According to some threads on here not many people knew the 300 was available with a C 6. Other than mine I have never seen one. All the ones I see with a 300 have either a manual shift or one of the lighter duty automatics.
I never thought it was a rare option. I just figured that with a 300 and C6 combo, backed with a 9" rearend, and king pin I-Beams, my truck has the best combination of parts under it. It truely is "Built Ford Tough".

It's not a rare truck.
Please take anything you read in Wikipedia with a large grain of salt...what you posted above is somewhat incorrect.
From the Automatic Transmission Application Charts in the 1973/79 & 1980/89 Ford Light Truck Parts Catalogs.
The 300 was the only inline 6 available after 1974. It was standard engine on most models. The V8's were optional.
F Series Trucks
The 300/C6 combo was first offered for model year 1977.
Thru model year 1981, either the C4 or C6 was offered with the 300.
1981: Last year for a 300/C4 combo.
Model year 1982: The C6 was the only automatic transmission offered with the 300.
1983 was the first year for an 300/AOD combo.
From 1983 thru 1989 (and prolly later, I have no A/T refs after 1989), either the C6 or AOD was available with the 300.
My friend has a 92 F250 2x4 with the "6x6" package, it also had the full floter in it. but had to replace it(he got the truck after a side swipe bent the passenger side axel back 6", new axel and bed all it needed). From the build sheet found in the driver's side door, it looks like a special order truck from Ford
