The van ran great when i brought it home and then after putting the manual trans in it it idles funny so I'm thinking I unhooked the vacuum line going to the A4LD and never plugged it. I however cannot find where it was hooked to the engine. Can anyone help me out? RB
The vacuum tree at the left rear of the engine (if it's a 3.0l). Has seven taps, of which IIRC only six are used on my rig. To the A4LD, there is a foot or so of flexible line from that tree to the steel line which begins at the bellhousing. You can see it in this pic:

Normally, you'd be able to hear a giant sucking sound with a leak that large.

boy can I ever,
Pull off the interior shroud.
Go in from the passenger side and right behind the distrubutor you will see you vacuum tree, coming off at about 3 o'clock, you will see a short section of flexible the hooks into some rigid that looks like fuel line. This used to go down to your shift modulator (or whatever you call it) that's the one you need to plug back up.

Thanks i was trying to find it from below with no luck. RB
On the 4.0L it's on the drivers side rear corner of the upper intake manifold. Like a dummy I forgot to plug the line going to the tranny. It should run a whole lot better now. Thanks for the help. RB
