My truck had an engine fire the other day, i got it out faily fast. The truck is a 77 F150 with the 400 in it. The wires, dis. vac. hoses, wire to coil, coil, are black and melted and will be replace. I really need to know where to go after that and what to look for as far as hidden problems. I think the problem was from the acc. pump on the carb spraying fuel on the dis. or the fuel line had a leak.
I really have not had time to really dig it to find the source of the problem. I have heard that this is not all that uncommen a problem on fords. Is that right???
So again i plan to
replace...
all wires ( to dis.&coil, plugs)
plugs
Dis.& cap
vac. hoses
rebuild ...
carb.
Any help/adives on this would be great...what have I missed, what other problems could be hidden. And am I the alone in the firey problem, hearing about a similar firey situation would be helpful.
