Question Question about a chebby!

Ok i was wondering if anyone on here would know this, i asked it before but didnt really get a responce. I want (a buddy of mine wants) to know if chevy 3500 leaf springs are the same length centerhole to centerhole, and the width is the same, as the 2500 and the 1500. I did some lookin on the internet but didnt come up with a real answer. I think they are because i knew a guy who had 2500 springs on a 1500. The reason i ask is a buddy of mine wants to put 3500 springs on his 1500, his truck is a 98. Its just a farm truck, doesnt see the road, so he isnt to worried about the ride. I got access to a set of 3500 springs off of a 3500 dump i think the truck is a 1985ish. Please help

He's planning on overloading it to the point where the 1/2 ton rated rear axle bends, is he?

He would be better off with an overload spring:

Or just add a leaf or two to the existing pack.

I dont really know what his plans are to be exact, he just asked me to ask around. I think his problem is the leafs on the truck now are saggin pretty bad, and he wants something under it to hold up better, and with more ease than a 1/2 ton leaf setup.

Stock springs tend to be soft, so I have no hesitation about swapping in heavier springs.
Making one out of two isn't hard if needed. I replace or add leaves, then replace the center pin with an Allen head cap screw (high quality steel) secured by a metal locknut.
One trick from the wrecker world is to have your overload leaves touching the stops so they engage much sooner and the truck doesn't squat.
As for the ride, it's "mind over matter". I don't mind, it don't matter.
ALWAYS use new U-bolts. They are cheap.
