A bad CPS won't make smoke.
Save your money.
It will make it stutter erratically like burned out points on a gasser or simply just shut off for no apparent reason.
Or not start at all the next day, with zero smoke.
I thought thes same thing, Kwikk, but you need to read that thread that Brandon linked to over at TDS. This new CPS seems to be causing all kinds of symptoms that one wouldn't think could be caused by it, most notably the code for #8 injector. And Ford's tech hot line knows about it. http://www.FTEs diesel forums.com/fo...sensor-189509/

Interesting.
Two weeks before the recall came out I bought a grey one and installed it.
Not going to bother with responding to the recall, not worth my time.
I still have my black IH sensor that I bought 4 years ago.
