Okay, looking to pick up on in the next several weeks. They have the 40gb and 80 gb versions. Price different between them is 100.00, and my understanding is the main diff is that the 40gb model is not backward compatable, which is no problem as i still have the PS2 for those games.
So any other differences between the 2 that i'm not aware of
i know that the current blue ray dvd players dont have internet hook up, so the generation 1 blue ray will be obsolete by the end of the year when generation 2 blue ray comes out. i was reading an article this morning talking about this with hd losing the battle.
so i was looking into ps3's and with your question maybe this is a difference
The 2 differences are the backwards compatibility that you were talking about. And, the 80 GB has media card slots and I think 4 USB ports on the front instead of 2 (like the 40GB). I bought a 40 GB just before Christmas.
Hmm, intresting that this thread comes up now when I'm looking to get one to. Since 2 xbox 360's have burned up on me in 6 months!! I'm selling mine as soon as it comes back from repair. What's the reliablity like on the PS3? It's not gonna be a piece of poo like the 360 is it?
I have the 80gb PS3 and its NOT 100% compatible with PS2 games (though I was lead to believe this)...The PS3 will play all but 1 of my PS2 games, and of course its my one of my FAVs (Jak & Daxter) - other than that - no complaints - plays dvds, cds, blue ray, mp3, etc....an excellent all media machine and for the current price - why not?
