After running the booster vacuum tests, you might test if the springs are a problem. This applied to my '94 F150, XL, 4.9L, no cruise, 2X Drive; so any caveates would apply when using for diagnosis of another year or model.
To test if you have may have an issue with the booster springs do the following:
1) Pull the master cylinder, no need to unhook the brake lines. I just pushed mine over and slid the left hole over onto the right booster bolt. This got it out of the way of the push rod.
2) Start the engine and if the push rod moves, the spring(s) are shot in the booster.
3) If it doesn't move, check the push rod length.
I do not know which of the spring systems in the booster had a problem and the pedal returned with a light force after being depressed with the MC out.
