Tire Size Question

I'm getting a new set of tires for my 04 Screw, right now I have stock Generals P255 70R 17.Can I get a bigger tire size like P265 70R 17? I was told by a technician that I could'nt because it would ruin my 4 wheel drive,is this possible? He also advice against putting a leveling kit, would also ruin 4 wheel drive. What do you guys think.

Thanks

tire sizes

Try the B F Goodrich site-tire sizes and specs., And try the 4Lo.com final gear ratio (sites.) Between the two sites you can figure out what the best/biggest tires you can go with, then go to the tire store and eye-ball 'em just to make sure-bring a tape measure! It worked on my '89 Ranger-improved my gas mileage!

My 02 F150 2WD has had 265/70R17 on it every since I bought it in 05 and I had no problems with them, so Your 4WD should be fine with them. Since yours is a 4WD, you could get by with the 285/70R17.
