Hello from Finland!
I have one 1950 model in Finland.
It is Mercury M47 and it is project car.
It maybe back on the road again in 2009!
Please,take a look at the pictures: http://www.mercuryman.fi

Myfirst car was a 1949 Mercury 4 door like the one you are showing. I paid $110 for it and wish I still had it. That was along time ago.I had a lot of trouble with the starter hanging up and had to rock it in high gear to break it loose. All the Ford products seemed to have had the same problem. Sure does bring back good old memorys. Fix it up and enjoy. Also like all the others you are showing. A buddy of mine just sold his drag Mustang to someone in Finland.
I bought my M47 from Colorado / Denver.
I looked this model for a years and last year I saw it on Craiglist.
I think the first owner was also from US.
I think it is a good restore object...not bad!

Hey mercman65 your car looks almost same than mine!!
Yes, same colour black and red.
Great car!!! Are you going to put it on the road next summer?
"A buddy of mine just sold his drag Mustang to someone in Finland." Do you know where in Finland?
People in Finland like very much Mustangs and other muscle cars like Challenger, Cudas etc. It is Ok for me but I like only Mercs and I like cruisin all over the Europe with my wife.
Hey mytbtruck....I´ll put new photos to my websites at the weekend. The 1950 model came just back to home with new nice colour...dark chokolade brown! Please tell me what do you like the new colour. This -49 I´ll start to fix later, maybe next winter at the same time with pickup.

I dont find the way put photos to this forum! Is it possible? Please help me.
It is because you have not 20 or more posts here, when that is past you should see an option to go with "ADVANCED POST" under the window - and in there you will find buttons to put images in your post with.
You are not far from it, it is coming.
It may help to look at www.photobucket.com many of us use it to host our pictures online. You can link from there easily when the time comes (8 posts away) that you can do it....
God Sunday morning!
I have put also the pictures to my web sites! http://www.mercuryman.fi
There is a new button "projects" and if you press the button
you can see pictures of restored cars!

Welcome Jori. Enjoyed your web site and the great pictures. I lived just outside of Helsinki for three years ('56 to '59)(yeah, I'm an old fart), and have very fond memories. Finland is where I discovered girls and motorcycles .......... two addictions I still carry today.
This is a great forum; lots of knowledge for the sharing.
Hi DB
Helsinki is little bit change after -59. I think it is too big for me. I live in the countryside and it is much better for me. It is not possible to find carages for twenty mercurys in Helsinki if you are not rich! ...and I`m not rich!
Lifestyle here in Finland is now samekind than in US. Many people call Finland "little America" because of the lifestyle. I think it was very different in 1956-1959, after the Second War.
I`ll hope you have a good memories from Finland?
jori
I'm sure Finland has changed; the whole world has changed since the 50's! LOL
But Finland is a special place, with wild and wonderful people. I saw my first Moto-X in Finland (1957), scared the crap outta me ...... but I loved it at the same time. Then I got invited to a Speedway race, that scared me too, but it was so cool. They used to run the motorcycle GP the same day as the F1 race back then. I went to see the cars but was just blown away with the beauty and grace of motorcycle road racing.
You live in a beautiful country with civilized laws and rational solutions to some of our modern problems. I learned about competitive spirit, something that seems to come naturally to most Finns, and the existance of Sisu. I'll always treasure the time I spent in Finland and my many Finnish friends.
