All automatics mated with the 6.0 Diesel in Superduty trucks are the 5 speed Torqueshift. Or if you would like to get technical the tranny is the 5R110W. Five Speed Rear wheel drive 110... well you get the picture.
Not to sure about the 650 or higher maybe you would be lucky and get an Allison but I don't know.
Ford manufactures it, but I believe I read somewhere the design came from german company.

I don't know about the design being from a German company.
My brother-in-law is an engineer at Ford. He told me he was involved with the Torqshift in the early stages. Ford started work on it in 1998. That's all I know at this time.
I thought I read somewhere that it was a ZF (German) design.
No, it was not a ZF design. I was part of the team at Ford's Automatic Transmission Engineering in Livonia, Michigan (suburb of Detroit) that designed the TorqShift. There was no input or help from ZF on this trans. Some of the other Ford transmissions are based on ZF designs, but not the TorqShift.
