Overdrive blows fuse

Overdrive blows fuse
97 Explorer XLT V6 SOHC
When I press the Overdrive button on the end of the gearshift, it blows fuse #26, which also controls backup lights, among other things. I can hear it blow when I press the button. I am starting to tow a heavier trailer, and definitely need to be able to turn Overdrive off.
Any advice on finding the short or problem?
