Question Lincoln Mark-LT...

Just wondering why some may not consider this option?
Obviously new it carries a much higher MSRP than Lariat-KR but used they're very soft in the market place.
Same frame etc as the F150, just more plush options/amenities.
Are they more problematic or costly to repair then the F150?

it is the exact same truck, from the seats to the bolts holding the grill on. the only differences are cosmetic...ie: leather, grill, fender emblems, tailights/headlights

Since it's mostly just fluff and buff items for the Mark, it should have the same cost of ownership as the F150. (and same problems). I wish I had waited a little longer and I would have purchased the Mark, but couldn't pass up the rebates on the 04s when I purchased mine.

I think it really comes down to cost, advertising, and perception.

To keep this on a more level playing field, I will keep this to the assumption that we are comparing 4x4 SuperCrew in each vehicle. With that being said, the Lincoln Mark LT is actually not that much more (well within $5,000 MSRP) than a fully loaded F150 in an FX4, Lariat, or King Ranch trim level, as all three can be optioned quite well. They can all easily break the $40,000 MSRP barrier, and in many cases, they can start pushing that $50,000 price mark. That price tag, in itself, will limit how many of them are out on the road.

You can step into a "base" King Ranch (again using SuperCrew, 4x4) for $38,970. The "base" Lincoln Mark LT clocks in at $42,365. While that makes it look like the Lincoln Mark LT is easily $4,000 more expensive, the truth of the matter is that it already has many of the F150 options as standard equipment. Things like the Audiophile 6 CD stereo, Sirius Satellite radio, and Universal Garage Door Opener are all standard features in the Mark LT, but they would have to be added to the F150 King Ranch. After you add a few of these standard Mark LT features to that King Ranch, and that price gap closes pretty quickly. In most of my shopping, I found that a similarly equipped FX4, Lariat or King Ranch was within $2,000-4,000 of their Mark LT equivalent.

If you are looking for a "luxury" truck. I would suggest at least looking at the Lincoln Mark LT. But, only if you are looking at a fully loaded truck.

While doing my recent three week stretch of truck shopping--following my '06 Harley-Davidson F250 being stolen--I had completely forgotten about the Mark LTs. The plain & simple fact is that Ford drops a healthy chunk of change into advertising their F-series trucks, but there is very little, if any, spent on advertising the Mark LT, at least not since it originally launched (2006?).

The only reason that I started looking into the Mark LT was pure coincidence. I was channel surfing while truck shopping online, and happened to land on one of the 'American Chopper' episodes for the Mark LT bike...which was destined to be unveiled at SEMA along with the introduction of the Mark LT itself.

I think that speaks volumes for the advertising machine. Hell, I can think of at least half a dozen F-series commercials right off of the top of my head--especially now that Mike Rowe has signed on. I cannot think of a single Lincoln commercial...let a lone a Mark LT commercial.

On the perception side, there are hundreds of thousands of F150s & Super Duties sold every year. On the flip side, I would be surprised if the Mark LT sales break ten thousand annually. Couple that with the lack of advertising, and the Mark LT is pretty much not even a blip on the radar for the folks that are out truck shopping.

As for reliability, it is an F150. Enough said.

Thumbs up

I purchased a 2006 New Mark LT 4 x 4 Loaded in March of 07.

My Truck came with 6-cd audiofile, Sirius, Rear DVD, 20" Chrome Wheels.
This was a late build that included the round fog lights. The MSRP for my
truck was $46,999. I purchased it $35,000.00 out the door.

I am very happy with it.

Thanks for the feedback people. As some may know I'm hot and heavy on the hunt for a used 07 S-Crew (6.50 bed) 4x4 KR or Lariat loaded and I may have a 07 Lariat tri-sand locked down...just waiting for a call from the owner and his title to become Lien free...however I'm not going to wait much longer.
But...just for giggles I'm now searching the internet for 07 Mark LT's and true some are in the high 20's to low 30's but sometimes you'll see them like the one that just sold on eBay two days ago for $25K with only 8000 miles on it or another one today that sold in NY for $26K...AND their already loaded to the max, 20" chrome wheels, bling all around inside and out on the Truck. The silver or Pearl white/(tri-sand) are really getting my attention.
Also the 07 Lincoln came with a "bumper to bumper 6/70 warranty"...that ain't too shaby!
With the Mark Lt the 6.50 bed options aren't out there as readily as the Ford counterpart but they are around non the less...now keeping my eyes wide open!
*PS...anyone know if they use a better grade of Leather for the Lincoln seats vs Lariat or FX models?

I just purchased a 4x4 Mark LT after close to a month of truck shopping. With that in mind, I found it MUCH, MUCH easier to find a Mark LT that I wanted in dealer inventory than an F150. There were very few F150s on dealer lots that I would even consider. In the end, when I actually walked into a Lincoln dealership, the salesman found the exact truck I was looking for within 5 minutes. I pretty much shot down 30+ F150s that I looked at in a couple of Ford dealerships....all because of how they use the numbers to dictate how they outfit the vehicles that they order for their stock.

The Mark LT is definitely predominantly 5.5' beds, unfortunately. But, then again, how many "luxury" trucks are actually going to be used for real cargo? Maybe a couple suitcases here or there, a sheet of plywood sometime in the next 5 years, or helping someone move their refridgerator. I would venture to guess that the folks that are truly going to use the box of their truck (on even a weekly basis) are not going to be looking at a Lincoln.

In the test driving I did, it seemed like the FX4 & Lariat leather had a harder surface. I would not go so far as to say that the Mark LT's leather is suede-like, but it definitely seems softer.

2008 Mark LT, 4x4, 5.5' box
MSRP: $49,010
Out the door: $32,244

Again thanks for the feedback Deluxe05...I agree finding a Lariat,FX4, KR with all the right options I want sitting on the dealers lot is tough...and if there is one they think it's gold.
Most all Mark LT's have the right options/amenities already. For reasons (I need) the 6.5 box, that option I can't compromise on.
A mint 07 4x4 LT 6.50 Box w/8000 miles just sold in NY for $26K and it was silver.
So now my seach will be also focusing on Mark LT's.

"out the door" including tax...?
I think, no...I know my local Lincoln dealer would laugh me out the door on that one.

Tax is being paid separately (purchased out of state), but that was the "keys in hand" & "out the door" price. That includes $4,500 in manufacturer rebates and the $8,000 net settlement from my stolen vehicle claim (in lieu of a trade-in, if you will).

From my experience dorking around with the side view mirrors on my truck, Lincoln parts are ridiculously expensive compared to the nearly identical Ford parts, so if that is the case across the board, I'd say the Lincoln will cost more to repair.

unless it's a lincoln only feature (grill, emblems, head/tail lights), the cost of replacements should be exactly that of the F-150. it it ain't, walk down the street to the Ford dealership. alot of people here can testify that everything is interchangeable

I've had really good luck with Lincoln Dealerships. In Washington, I took all my cars to them for repairs (Fords and non-fords). They were much more easy going and prices were comparable to the Ford guy 2 blocks away.

There is a really nice black on black 07 Mark LT 4x4, 9k miles, with all options and a snuglid on ebay with over 3 years of factory warranty left for 33k right now. If you live out of state, you could save sales tax as well.

I've seen some 07's sell in the mid to upper 20's. Finding one with a 6.50 bed is tougher then I originally thought.
Sales tax is then paid in the state it's registered in...my state, Pa sales tax 6%
