replacing fuel lines

last night when I was soaking up oil from replacing the HPOP o'rings I noticed three small rubber hoses I assume are fuel lines since they appeared to connect to the filter bowl and the fuel pump were swollen. They didn't seem to be leaking, but I thought they might need to be replaced before they do. They are connected to steel lines, do these lines have much movement so that these hoses can be replaced? Is there anything better than the stock rubber hoses. Sorry for the long winded question.

in addition to this question, can the under hood steel fuel lines be replaced with the correct rubber hose? or is there such a thing?
thanks, dan

Those three (3) line you referance are generally blue in color and are made of a high pressure hose. Some members have found appropriate subsitute hose but I don't recall just what it is and I'm sure one of them will jump in and assist.

You will need to unbolt the fuel filter and possible disconnect the high pressure lines that attach to the front of the filter. There is not much wiggle room between the metal hose nipples plus they are difficult to remove and replace.

In regards to the question by Inmastrokinnow I'm not sure what lines you referance but If they are the two (2) lines the attach to the front of the fuel filter the answer is NO, there are no replacement hose available as those two (2) lines are high pressure as well.

If I have steered either of you wrong a Guru will be along shortly to kick my butt.

Aeroquip FC332-06 or FC498-06 , 3/8" rated 250 psi, 17 bar. Same thing that ford will sell you in little packages, cost sky high. You need 3 little aeroquip hoses - 2 about 1 3/4" and one shorter, - the 1 3/4 " hoses are ford part # F4TZ-9324-CA , the part # on the shorter hose F4TZ-9324-DA.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>

You can use anything else that meets SAE J30R9 specs.<o></o>
