I added 3rd row headrests!

Finally after years of driving these trucks and HATING the third seat, I finally added headrests! It wasn't very difficult at all.

What made it a perfect situation was that I put in replacement headrests w/DVD players in my Mazda 5. That allowed the original headrests to be installed in mine. They are quite tall, which what I was looking for so that I didn't have to make them adjustable. Another cool thing is that my Mazda 5 has neoprene seat covers juts like my Excursion so everything matches.

My gallery has the install pics. Here's the finished product.

Hmmm...June? Late or early? I'll be driving across the Mainland with it late June.

Neoprene = cheap and easy to clean & water(drink, ice cream, yogurt etc.)proof.

Looks really good! The headrests that I really like are like the way that Rays98govols did it to his Excursion. Heres a pic of his 3rd row headrests.

The headrests that I'd really like to put are the headrests from the 3rd row on the Expeditions that flip out of the way when there not being used, into the Excursions 3rd row. I'd also like to add larger headrests to the 2nd row. Heres a pic of the Expedition headrests.

It was the Expedition's headrests that almost made me sell my Excursion and buy an EL last week. Good thing (for my wallet) that the one I wanted was on the Mainland. *whew*

How hard do you all think it would be to add the Expedition hearests to the Excursion with the seat posts and all so I can remove them when I need to and fold them like they are in the pictures when not in use so visibility will not be hindered?

You can't remove the Expedition's headrests.

Need better rearview? Get some tow mirrors.

Honestly, the headrests don't block that much.

Your coming the Big Island? You sure? Most folks go to O'ahu.

Actually I'm gettin' a new muffler put on tomorrow. Don't know what it'll be yet...the guy said he can get it very quiet without choking it up. My guess is that he's gonna use a muffler from a PSD.

How about you tell me what I should do...seriously!!!

I plan to spend about 2 weeks there....one week in a time share and one week exploring....

You live there so I welcome and need the assistance to plan this!!! We can go PM if you wish but I need some feedback and some guidance from a local...my boss was victim of breakin while there and while doing some investigating he was told to go home...obviously too close...

I have no true needs other than a good time and she does not drink so bars are not a big thing....

Tell me what to expect or where to go...love the help and you have a year to assist me!!!

Thanks

Looks great Ken, did you drill the frame and actully insert the tubes for the headrests? Never the less, they look great.

Yeah Bryan I drilled through the frame. Easy. Those spacer things I put a picture of keep the headrests stable and rattle free.

Great pics. I plan to do this on my X.

I put video headrests on the second row seats so I can use the stock mini headrest on the third row.
