Chassis Swap

I have an 84 f150 2wd 4.9L Step side with a good cab and bed.. No rust! I also have an 84 f150 but it is 4wd and a 351 but the cab and bed are shot. I want to use the frame, engine, axles, wheels, tranny, 4wd components from the rusted out truck and put the bed and cab from my 2wd on the chassis. Would this be alot of custom fabrication and so on and so forth or would it be a pretty much straight forward swap. They are both regular cab SWB. I have never tried a body swap but I guess you have to start somewhere.. I take pictures of everything and I am pretty confident I could get it all back together if it will just fit but I wanted to ask before I start. Any comments would be helpful. Has anyone ever tried anything like this? would it be easier to just swap the drivetrain?

It's waaaaaay easier to swap the cab and bed. Not that changing a cab and bed are easy, but it's pretty straight forward.

Only thing you'll have to watch out for is getting the body mounts off in one piece. They can get rusted on there pretty good.

I've done it a couple of times and you'll need some friends to help lift the stuff off.
