Hey all, Just got my hands on a '64 F250 and was wondering, what do the characters in the VIN stand for. I have already gotten the specs for it through the program on the web site, but am looking for some more info.
Do you mean letters like (Series code like F11 = 4 wheel drive F100 of F25 = 4wd F250); or Exterior Color Codes A = Black 61-66 model etc?
I'm I on the right track?
Could be, all I can say is it has 11 characters the first 5 are F25CR. As far as I know it is the VIN and I am a bit reluctant post it in it entirity. Thanks For the help
Secondly, those are indeed the VIN characters. So far you have indicated that you own a..
F25 = F250
C= 292 cu V8
R= Assembly plant San Jose
The remainder is the vehicle assembly sequence, or what the truck number was and approximately when it was built during the year. As far as the other stuff, we could tell you what color it was, what the HP ratings are, what tranny and axle are in it, blah-blah-blah, you get the idea.

Sorry, I just haven't take posession of the truck yet. Do any of you guys know how I could use that info to find out what the truck would have looked like off the lot? I want to restore it to as origional a condition as I can. I have gotten in touch with Ford and I am waiting for an answer from their research department. I am kinda hoping for something a little quicker. The entire VIN is F25CR501598. And Mike G: How did you get the info for what you've told me already?
As all of us are trying to assist you with your requested data; what you need to provide off the Vin data plate; is Vin # you posted; but under that is WB = Wheel base; Color, Model, Body, Trans, Axle, then the next line will have the Maximum G.V.W lbs, Certified H.P, RPM & the DSO.
This information doesn't allow anyone to steal your identity; Its just the data info on all our trucks etc. If your still leary about posted it look in the TArticle/Specs and scroll down and you'll see where you can decode this information.
The VIN number you posted identifies the series, (OEM) engine size, model year, assembly plant and production sequence. The production sequence is basically like a serial number to determine the exact date window your truck rolled off the assembly line, it helps to confirm year model.
Glad to hear of another enthusiast is among our group. Looking forward to seeing before & after pics of your "Slick".
