Ok If I Understand Correctly From All I Read On Here I Can Order A Flywheel For A 428 That Was 4 Speed Manual? I Have Been Trying To Find A Flywheel And No Luck Err!!!!!!! Any Clue Where To Get Such A Thing Would Be Helpful.
410s were all internal balanced so a flywheel for a 360 or any other FE will work except the 428.
Was it ? I thought it used the 428 crank and required the fly/flex plate ? So then there are 3.98" stroke cranks out there alreay internally balanced ? sounds kind of uhmm I dunno I guess once again the FE mystery is eluding me LOL whats new
F250Mike, the 410 takes the same flywheel as the 428. All of the 410s were external balance, Bear is mistaken on this one. Any one who sells flywheels or flexplates should be able to get you one. The 410s were offered in Merc's in 1966 and '67. 428s, IIRC were offerd 68-70. Don't let anyone tell you the that the 410/428 'wheel is rare or special or has to cost twice as much. The only differance is the balance. If you can't find one at a good price ready made, you can start with a normal zero balance 360/390 'wheel and have the imbalance you need added at the balance shop. It really isn't that big of a deal. You can weld extra weight on where you need it, or you can drill on the opposite side. DinosaurFan, on work's old 'puter
Bear, just when and where is it that Ford says that the Merc 410 was internal balance ? You are the one, and the only, person I know who believes that to be the case. I am going from memory and from Steve Christ's rebuild your FE & FT book. If you don't have a copy, I think motorhaven has them for sale on this site. Or from Amazon, less than 20$ either way. 352/360 uses a 11" inch clutch / 390/428 uses a 11 1/2" clutch
Probably ought to scratch through that mistake, Bear.
E v e r y b o d y knows the 428 crank is externally balanced, including you now.

Hell, I owned several 428CJs and even raced them. I've know since the CJ appeared it was external balance. Just never fooled with a 410 so took what the book said as fact.
From my research, the 390 block and interns is the same as a 410. Difference is the 428 crank and shorter connecting rods 6.490". You can reuse anything else in the 390. Including your flywheel, be it any FE flywheel (360/390/410/428), as long as you extenal balance it.
F250, you might look at flywheels from McLeod. Or any of the clutch companies should be able to help you out. But you will have to look at car flywheels, cause the 428 didn't come in a truck. DinosaurFan, on work's old 'puter

Actually the 410 and 428 us the same length rods as the 390 and 427. The pistons have the wrist pin moved up .100" to compensate for the longer stroke.
