soo i was commin from town and all of a sudden i lost all power didnt stall tho the water in fuel light and check engine light on then one second later it all went away and the truck was fine? what does this mean
Hmm ... water in fuel went on? Thats odd... usually when the truck loses power while driving it is the CPS. But water in fuel? Maybe you had just that - water in fuel. Wait for someone else to chime in
When was the last time you serviced your fuel filter and drained the bowl?
I'd start by draining the bowl. Also it really helps to keep the fuel tank at least 1/4 to 1/2 full when cold to help prevent condensation from building up.
Maybe you should drain the fuel housing... I would catch the fuel in a clear bottle and let it stand for a while.. If there is water in it.. you will see it..
i was driving in stock mode and all of a sudden it felt like it died but i looked down and it was sitin at liek 1300 rpms which is wierd cuz i was doing 60 and thats usally sits around 1600-1700 rpms or somthingi started my truck and flicked the yellow switch and let some fuel fal out ?? i dont know what else to do im not use to this powerstroke? im use to my idi
SRY FOR confusing let me rewrite this IT didnt stall it just lost all power then the idiot lights went out and it was fine this happens all in like 3 seconds
So not the water in fuel light? If it was like the ignition turned off and then turned back on real quick while driving, that's a classic cam position sensor symptom.
Sounds to me like water in the fuel caused it to stutter. Did you catch the fuel in a container when you drained it, or just let it spill on the ground?
lol just let it fall on to the driveway while it was running but like i said the water in fuel Light came on with the check engine light and i just bought this truck from a dealer a month ago id figure theyd put a new cps in if they had it on there lot
sounds more like chaffed wiring harness to me. check the back of the harness where it goes over the drivers valve cover, and make sure it is not rubbing the VC. make sure the little 10mm bolt holding the connections together is tight, and also make sure the main connector to the PCM on the firewall is tight.
Also make sure your tuner connection is seated and secure.
By the way, was it raining? if so, it could be the CPS wiring connector, or if the windsheild has ever been replaced in your truck it may not have been sealed correctly and a drip to the GEM could also cause this.
on top of that are temps are bein pycho right now it went form 0-50 back down to 32 now 0 soo and i odnt have less thn a half a tank but i have quite of bit of diesel kleen in there
soo when the water in fuel light comes on it doenst shut the fuel off to the motor so it doenst ruin the injecters?
nope, you just get the idiot light, and that means pull over and drain bowl. You will need to change your fuel filter if you did have WIF, I use FPPF treatment and it has a moisture displacement additive, I am not sure if DK does but I would think so. check your bottle and see.
if the engine did not stumble, and just the lights flashed and then went back to normal it really sounds like and electrical thing to me.
