Door Lock Actuator Replacement Help

I know this subject has been on here several times, but I couldnt find much by using search. Any tips on changing door lock actuators? Is it as simple as taking door panel off and removing and replacing with new part? thanks

Not sure on yours, but may be held in place with a large aluminum pop rivet that has to be drilled out. The new actuator comes with new rivet, but it was too large for my home pop rivet gun. May need to borrow/rent the tool or do like I did and use a nut and bolt. This was on an Explorer.

well if its on f150 2000 supercab might be the same as mine i just changed out my passenger actuator 2001 f150 supercab... its kinda simple just gotta have patience what i did as follows:

1) i took off the door panel (given)
2) next i removed metal wire going out to actuator its the one that connects to the door handle so when you pull it pops door lock open
3) next i loosened up a 1/2inch nut or screw that connects something to the window elevator or something to make room and be able to move around inside door very limited space
4) i also removed the door handle its (2) 10mm nuts
5) also removed the 2 (hex) screws that are the ones that are connected to the door lock
IMPORTANT there is i think two electrical wires connected to it, one you can pull it out while actuator on, the second one you have to do it when you drop the actuator for better access
6) the actuator is kind of tricky to get out and put back, so be real careful what i did was sort of let it drop some towards the bottom then put it out a hole towards the middle of door... well you'll have to kinda do it to get the idea...
7) the actuator once pulled out completely out from door there is 2 pop & lock hinges sort of electrical wire connecters locks you'll see what im talking about once you get there just push in both at same time if second person there perfect let them pull out the actuator while you hold down on hinges... depending on actuator the one i bought off ebay i just popped it back in and it locked right in, it was smaller & different but the rest played right on worked perfect!!! HOPE THIS HELPS SOME I couldnt be very decriptive sorry not very handy with words!!! rest is reverse of removal or whatever works easier for you!!
