I just picked up my 94 F250, and as the seller indicated the right side valvecover is leaking. Can anyone walk me through getting to the valve cover to change the gasket? It appears that I need to pull the intake to get to the cover.
Do I need to pull the plenum, if I do, is there a gasket that needs to be replaced? And anything else I need to know before getting into this, like how long to budget time wise for the job. (I am not too comfortable in pulling the intake...)
Also is there a way to swap out this plenum for a different one that is more practical?
If you mean passenger side then yes you have to remove the upper intake. There are a bunch of vacuum lines to disconnect, and the throttle cables, but that's about it. And yes there is a gasket betwen the upper and lower, it's a good idea to get a replacement as you can't be certain if the existing will come out undamaged. Get the Ford rubber coated steel valve cover gaskets and you'll never have another leak.

Now I understand having to remove a bunch of wires and plumbing to get to a valve cover but this is the first time I have heard of removing the intake to get to it. Makes me wonder what the engineers were drinking when they thought this up?
