Entertainment System List Format

I could not find what format the CD player reads for File List. Some CD's can display the song that is playing while others just show the track number. The difference is what format the list is saved in. It is either M3U or WPL. Do youo know what format these players use. 2006, F-150, 6 CD changer, MP3 Compatible, Satellite Compatible.

Also, this is exactly the same as that in my friend's Lariat, but he has Sirius hooked up. Can't I just add the Serius antenna and plug it in to the back of the system? And how about the Auxiliary input for an Ipod for instance? Isn't that just an additional plug in the unit? I can't see Ford installing half a dozen different units, so it must be something that simple. If so I'll order the serius antenna and get the parts to add the auxiliary input. It will require changing the tray in the top of the dash.

It depends on how you burn the data to CD:
  • MP3 track mode ignores any folder structure on the MP3 disc. The player numbers each MP3 track on the disc (noted by the .mp3 file extension) from T001 to a maximum of T255.
  • MP3 folder mode represents a folder structure consisting of one level of folders. The CD player numbers all MP3 tracks on the disc (noted by the .mp3 file extension) and all folders containing MP3 files, from F001 (folder) T001 (track) to F253 T255.
In track mode, the system will display and play the structure as if it were only one level deep (all .mp3 files will be played, regardless of being in a specific folder). In folder mode, the system will only play the .mp3 files in the current folder.

In addition to the antenna, the satellite radio unit also has a box for processing the signals before forwarding them on to the head unit. From what I have read thus far, the satellite radio box is mounted below the head unit in most trucks.

I believe that both the Sirius unit & iPod adapters like P.I.E.'s FRD04-AUX use the same CAN bus connector on the back of the stock head unit.

This would actually work out, as the P.I.E. adapter is actually like T adapter. The left-hand side of the top bar of the T would go to the CAN bus on the back of the stock deck. The right-hand side has another CAN bus plug-in for whatever may have been plugged into the head unit. And the "leg" of the T goes to the brains of the adapter & where you plug in your cable for the iPod or whatever.
