Gas tank replacement

I'm replacing the two tanks on a 1979 F350 4x4 with one rear mounted 38 gallon
tank. What can I safely bypass? It has two charcoal canisters and the switching valve. I assume I run the fuel line from the new tank to the fuel pump bypassing the switch. And then can I remove the extra charcoal canister. Am I correct or have I missed something. Thanks....

bypass or remove the switch, you will not need the extra canister, since it doesn't have a tank to connect too. big tanks are nice, i have one on my company truck. it is 38 gallon, and i drive it all over the area.

I've considered the bigger rear tank, but it raises the question....Do you just keep your spare in the bed? If so, how do you mount it if you don't have the stock bedside mount?

It already had a rear mounted 19 gallon tank and the mid mount 20 something gallon plastic tank. No spare mount I saw. Where did the factory mount the spare when dual tanks were ordered?

Spare usually mounted under the rear tank. There's a mount bar that the spare sits on, and is screwed to, that connects to two bolts that are dropped from the frame diagonally across the tank. I'd send a picture, but I don't have any of the spare tire bar, currently. When I unwrap everything from the powdercoater, I'll try to take a shot of it.

Sounds good. When I removed the OE tank, I didn't see a bar but it could have already disappeared along with the rear bumper.
