I figured I could at least take the valve covers off and maybe see the damage.
Well, let me tell you it was basically nothing. Now, my termenology is next to nil as I am very miuch a beginner when it comes to cars. I actually got this truck to learn about them. And I very much enjoy doing the work....(usually)
Heres what happened so far. I took off both covers, one side was fine. other side has one rocker misaligned. that was it. I realigned it and got one cover on and the other one has something stuck in one of the screwholes. Some rubber piece. So I can get all but one screw. its the inside top middle one.
So. I didnt want to start the truck to see of it was running properly without knowing if it would be safe without the one screw. Also, I wanted to know how I might be able to get that piece of rubber out, or down far enough so I can put the bolt in.
Use a dental pic to fih out the rubber. Also I would closely inspect the pushrod on that rocker you fixed, it might be bent.
Oh! Thanks for reminding me! I did check that. and it was as straight. Good call though! but that is all that I checked. So if there is anything else, I dont think I did it.
might check the valve spring, i have had a couple of those break.and seemed for no reason. to tell if it is broken try to rotate it if it spins free it is probably broken
