Fuel Injector Keeps running
Ok! the problem got worse and worse (particuarly in the rain). and then the starter decided to join in on the fun. So I got the stater replaced. Ordered a new ECC after much difficulty (they couldn't figure out the right one). You need the tag number off the door panel to identify the proper ECC replacement. It was the 1st few digits and the last few (of that tag on door) in my case. Then, I figured out where the ECC (computer) was. It's at your left foot on the drivers side. you need to take off the plastic cover behind the E-Brake, then there is a retainer bracket to remove. Then you get under the hood and unscrew the 60 pin connector from under the hood. (seemed like I turned that screw for a week) then pull off the connection from under hood, get back in cab, and manhandle that ECC out, (I found it easier with E-brake on). Once you have it out the rubber gasket is left in the firewall, I found that i couldn't get the new ECC past the rubber gasket, so I pulled the gasket out of the firewall installed it onto the ECC and shoved the whole thing through the firewall (from inside the cab). Got under hood and reattached the 60 pin connector, screwed the bolt back on. i also Replaced the plugs and sparkplug wires they took a beating after flooding the thing a million times. And she started right up, its been wet and rainy here for a week and she's started every time. I'm pretty certain with this weather she would've acted up by now, so I think it's fixed Woo Woo!.
The ECC was $99 at autozone (they get it from "Cardone's" and you can access their website to see the relationship to the door tag that I was refering too earlier) Plus an $85 core charge. Thank you to everyone for your help.
FTE is the best, i hope this thread helps out some other shmoe like myself.
The tag on the ECC should be all you need (in fact, the BEST way) to get a proper match. If they read your door tag, it was probably just to see which engine and which transmission combo you had.
That's where people can run into trouble, grabbing one out of a truck with AOD if you have an electonic tranny won't be very helpful.
Again, thanks for the follow up, good luck going forward.
