have you changed your fuel filter? If you havent then start there. And dont forget to get the A/C hose disconnector kit from the parts place before you do it. Its like 10 bucks but is needed to get the filter to disconnect from the lines.

Sorry, but I don't see a connection between "a quarter tank" & either fuel pump or filter suddenly acting up. Bad fuel pumps & filters generally starve a motor of gas at any tank level.

These 'in tank' fuel pumps are pretty simple. No separate chamber or prepump, just a basic plastic pickup. There's a fairly easy test procedure, its less pleasant to R&R one. I'd check for Fault Codes 1st if it was mine.

Is this something new or always been there? How long have you run it after it "starts to run rough and bounces"? Almost sounds like running out of gas. Have you confirmed the gauge? I once ran out of gas in a U-Haul FORD straight truck, on a rainy December night, crossing an I95 bridge S of DC & the guage still read ~1/4. It ran rough and bounced in a way that made me think the ignition had gotten wet for several miles, before stopping. A quick tap on the tank revealed empty.
