I am converting my 55 f100 to front disk brakes and have most of the parts to finish the job. The problem I seem to have is the calipers from a camero with the pads installed are to tight to slide on. The shims have been removed. It looks like I would have to have the new rotors turned down about .020 to fit.
What my question is, did I buy the wrong calipers? Every thing I read says 71-76 GM calipers. That covers a lot of cars. The calipers I bought are from parts america and can be returned. Do the GM calipers from other cars have a wider space between the pads?
Hope this makes sence.
I have that conversion on my 55 however, I used the 4 1/2" bolt pattern which uses 76 to 81 Volare rotors and 70 to 77 Camaro Calipers, if you don't have this size try Midfifty catalog I think they list what parts and year you need. Make sure your calipers are compressed all the way in I tapped mine on with a rubber hammer then they opened up more.
I hope this helps
