Such an informative post. I know mine gets well over 11 mpg's. I also know that the diesels have gotten there kick in the mileage with the new fuel. Now guess who's turn it is? Yup, yours. The new gas with ethanol is getting less mileage per gallon (Here in NY by me it is hard to find any without the ethanol). Tests have already been done with some vehichles losing as much as 20% of their mileage with just the 10% ethanol fuels. They also want to increase the percentage of ethanol over the next few years. Mileage is going to suffer even more. Something to think about as well. Enjoy your single digit highway mileage.
Here in Wisconsin 10% ethanol isn't the majority. My local pump is 100% pure unleaded. Runs better to because of it. Ethanol it doesn't like. Mileagedrops some and power isn't what it should be. My V10 pings some with that crap. I stay away from it.

Unfortunately it is only a matter of time. I wish it wasn't happening, but it is. Here in upstate NY it is hard to find it without. I hope your state holds out as long as possible.

I'm not a "diesel" guy. This is my first diesel. I had the V10 before this truck. I can tell you this much, it pulls alot better than the V10. That is what I needed, so that is what I got.
If it does turn out bad, then I sell it for more than you could your truck so I will still be ahead of the game. How old are you? (or better question - how educated are you?)

Don't hold your breath on that one..People are very cautious with used 6.0L and 6.4L diesels-the dealers around here are having a difficult time selling them.People are just plain scared to buy them with the track record they've had for durability. The $.50/gallon fuel penalty over unleaded is also another reason.

That’s so funny I was just asking myself that about u, U are just looking to fight and u have no ammo. I’m really getting a kick out of u now "YOUR FIRST DIESEL" and u think u know enough to tell others to buy one? Try going back to school and finishing 12 grade before u argue with me (electrical engineer masters). Go look for an 18 yr old to argue with U might have a chance then.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>

Dealers here have no problems selling them. The 6.4 has not been a problem motor. Saying the 6.0 was terrible (the first 2 years had issues) is like saying the V10 is a piece of crap (because of the head problems early years). Not at all the case. The issues were sorted out on both of them. The dealers here do not even stock any V10's. They must be ordered after a sale. Noone really wants them and the dealers will not give anything for them here on trade in. I don't know why as I loved my V10. I would buy another one in a minute if I did not need more motor that the diesel does give me. Diesel here is $.40 more a gallon over a gallon of E85.

Your a troll who started with your childish comment in this thread. I had given some advice as asked for (prior to your knowledge filled post). Obviously you never passed english on your way to your degree. Home schooled? Taught by your mother/sister (one in the same person I presume).
Eirickw,
sorry your thread got off course. If you read my first post then you have my opinion. Good luck with your new truck!

Bull...
I've been running 10% ethanol for the past 5-6 years here in Metro NY (Long Island), before that it was MTBE.
I get 16.5-17 on the highway with my V10. Never changes. I've gotten 100% gasoline, nothing different.
If you were correct about losing up to 20% of the mileage, I'd either be getting 13.6, or my V10 is capable of 21.25MPGs on 100% gas. Neither of which is true.

20% of the MPGs, that's with E85. 85% ethanol.
Anyway... I just stepped in it...
Well, there are many other sites/people that have brought this issue up and they are seeing large drops in their mileage burning 10% ethanol. Do a search and see what many people are actually experiencing. I believe one right in this thread (lariat)

Really guy u could use some help I’m sorry for u. U started this after I gave my opinion and U started personal attacks for no reason. Hope u enjoy that 8k engine that will get 11 mpg. I’m done with u enjoy those 3000k repairs u have coming. How on earth can u think a guy that tows 2500 miles a year need to waste money on a Diesel? FOR A DAILEY DRIVER SHORT TRIPS U NEVER WANT a Diesel and if u feel differently im sorry again for u.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
Diesels sell for big money here, but the are all over the place. If you want a Diesel you have unlimited choices, but then to normally they have boat loads of miles on them also. Maybe they are just breaking in at 150/200k, but the bank sure don't like spotting the coin to buy one with than many miles on it. You can't by too old due to being here in the rust belt. So unless you are made of money or you really have the need for one normal people just buy gas. And very few buy V10 simply because they don't need all that power pulling a fourwheeler or a lawn tractor around.

It sure seems like the majority here in the Appleton area.

How are you going to sell a busted diesel truck for more than a V10 truck?
