Nice, but it has the older Mustang looking front end. 94-98.
I hope it does not share a chassis with any of the current mid and small chassis cars, what would be the point if it does?
Nice lines, Euro - I hope the US ones don't have a 3 bar grille.

Mustang?

Were not getting the falcon but we are getting the fiesta in 2010. We'll have the fiesta family of small cars a long with the focus. With gas prices ford is looking to shore up it's small car lineup. They have a host of cool cars in europe and austraila they could be sharing with us. The ones down under have turbos and super chargers and thats on the V-8's. The european focus can be had with a straight 6 volvo engine. America is known for hot rods, but the others get the fast cars, go figure.

I actually think it looks alot like the new Mondeo myself, but I can see where you are coming from
(Mondeo)

so when is it comeing to the US?
I wish it was... unfortunately think 2013 (seriously )

I think this looks damn good... with a 400hp Turbo I6 or a 425hp 5.4l V8... should go alright too

You guys get all the good stuff!

The Mondeo looks fish like, sharky, nurse shark. What would you expect from down under.

Do the Ford designers in Australia have much input on car design? It sure looks different than Detroit design.

Its an entirely different platform, engines, transmissions, design... the only link to platforms elsewhere in the world is the automatic transmission used in the base model (5R55) and the 5.4l block which is the base for our 5.4l DOHC...

The Falcon since 1964 has been co-developed here. When the Falcon was dropped elsewhere in the world in the early 70's Australia went its own road with regards to all design and engineering... The I6 we still used is still based off the original I6 fitted to the Falcons... just with much higher tech now (DOHC, VVT, turboed, factory propane option etc.)
(the Mondeo is actually a European Ford model)

An interesting tid-bit... Mullaly drove one of the development cars here last year, and is getting one shipped to the US as his personal vehicles (despite the fact it is RHD)
His words were that it had the class and comfort of his GS Lexus (his company vehicle at Boeing), but was a LOT quicker, and cheaper...

Am I to assume that the 425hp 5.4 is N/A?

Just what we need here to compete with the new Camaro and Challenger.

I'm thinking keep the GT500 unchanged and bring back the Mustang Cobra with the "Aussie" 5.4 with a 6 speed.

Ah yes, to be King for a day......

The thing is... it still uses the cast iron block... in a car like the Mustang (and the Falcon) it desperately needs the GT Alloy block.
