Start has me puzzled, help!
I went to start my '93 F-350 today, had it plugged in and it turned over briefly, then the starter just clicks.
Thought that maybe batteries were low so charged them, even though they weren't.
So, then I figured the starter must have given up, so I took it off.
Then I tested it with jumper cables and it works fine!
So I'm thinking some wires or solenoid must be bad, they seem ok, so I just hook up the electrical and don't bolt it in and it works.
The only time it just clicks is when it is bolted in, I'm stumped, please help!!!

The cable looked and felt fine, but I peeled back some of the covering plastic and it was a green mess. I replaced the cable and everything spun like crazy and it started in a split second. Similar thing with my F-150 a couple years back too.
Maybe try a jump from the battery to the starter with the starter mounted?
