4.0 SOHC Starting Problem

I have a 2001 Ranger XLT 2WD, Auto Trans, 55,000mi. Recently I have experienced a drop in rpm when putting it in park. It drops to about 500rpm, then picks back up. Yesterday I drove to work, out to lunch with no problems. I went to go home and it wouldn't run. It would crank fine, but not start until I gave it a little throttle. It would then run, but really rough. If I tried to let it idle, it would die. When it did run, there was no CEL. I left it at work overnight. I went to work this morning and it started up fine with no problem. I started it several times during the day and didn't have any problem driving it home.

Any help would be deeply appreciated.
(I had origianlly posted this in the ranger forum)

Your idle air valve is sticking. Either need to replace it or clean, I believe its on the center top of the intake plenum underneith the "4.0 SOHC" cover
