Engine Idle Adjustment

Is there another way to accurately adjust the Idle RPM to 650 other than eyeballing the tachometer? I am trying to adjust this properly so that I ensure I get an proper adjustment on my FIPL.....

Any ideas on adjusting the RPM?

A diesel timing meter uses the magnetic pick up on the harmonic dampener, but unless you know who has one, hard to find and expensive., you may find many shops will have a hand held photo tach, that uses a strip of reflective tape on the balancer to bounce an infrared signal off of, more common tool and not too expensive to buy.

The red neck way would be just to believe what the tach on the dash is telling you, will be more than close enough to set up the FILP, providing its working at all!!
